Saeder Krupp - 12 - Mean Bean's Defeat
Over the next three weeks, we take time to recover, Nightshade works on physio, while Styx does some necro-networking; Chester expands his exotic drug inventory; Bob Ross brings his drones back into working order; Bori purchases some nice household upgrades for his lady; and Hawkeye tinkers with some new transit for us, with a medical bay in it.
Raptor, as T-Rex, has been going to his weekly matches, deep in the bowels of a gentlemen’s club. He’s learned by now, through the fugue of his cyber-psychotic, circuitry-laden mind, that the crowd’s entertainment means more than winning the fight.
Mean Bean Okerlund, an exquisitely muscled cyber-boxer with pile-bunkers for fore-arms meets Raptor on the makeshift battlefield that comprises the arena. He flexes his impressive pectorals and generally rouses the crowd into a furor… but in vain. Raptor out-rabble-rouses him with his dino-call, and this forces Mean Bean Okerlund to save face and pile-bunker Raptor into the ropes!
Quick, roll your ‘imitating a dinosaur getting hurt’ pool! - 3 hits!! RaaaeeerrRaaaaa!
Once he’s received enough blows to work up the crowd, he goes for a reversal with a Raptor-tier groin kick, giving Mr. Mean Bean Okerlund’s Mean Beans an unfortunate turn. This puts him out of the fight, the crowd goes absolutely wild, and Raptor walks away with fat stacks.
Meeting Mathias: with your crew’s ability to… not die… you may be the perfect crew to finish a job abandoned halfway by a previous runner group. This is going to be a big payout job against an SK Vault, so some nice revenge opportunity. The vault was built quickly, in their giant open-air Arcology Tempelhof, storing some very interesting artifacts. The vault is protected by a pair of alchemomagical biometric keys (so we can grab the signature, but the key will need to be held by the living owner when we go to open), which are held by the Facility Director (always on site), and the visiting chairmen of the board. On site security includes a super elite spec-ops team which we’ll need to distract away from the site.
- need to get into Tempelhof (SK permission?)
- need 2 keys:
- 1 from chairman
- 1 by Facility Director
We social engineer into getting the Chairman’s schedule for the day, which takes him into a few locations but not the Vault area. He’s in a procession of 3 vehicles, starting at 11am.
Styx and Hawkeye work on making a terrorism, upgrading their possessed iced-orc zombie by adding heavy riot armor, a large explosive vest, and some big scary looking guns, with the intent to make him hard enough to deal with that the spec-ops team gets pulled off to deal with him.
Bori gets a phone call from a voice he doesn’t recognize, saying he has useful information regarding his current job, but that its sensitive enough to require an in-person meet. Raptor accompanies him, fearing the worst, and unsurprisingly he was right, as they walked right into a trap set by the crime boss whose unfortunate dog we used as a sewer guide. They both try and de-escalate, but it comes to a firefight, and they flee through a smoke grenade - Raptor having taken a rather significant bruising in his full stun track, but through some quick improvised archanoarmor of Bori’s, they managed an escape.
–
Bori gets another phone call, from his girlfriend, who sounds a bit frantic as she describes the two… coworkers at their apartment waiting to meet him. He hears a scuffle and followed by a bang of a gun. Bori urges Raptor to gun their motorcycle and they make it there in 7 minutes.
Once arriving, they see a human shape print in the wall and a body next to Bori’s girlfriend. She has a wound in her shoulder and describes the series of events that lead to the death of one mobster and one the fleeing of one; they tried to forcefully gain entrance to the apartment, to which she threw one person into the wall and was shot by the other before he fled.
They debate about what to do about the body. Raptor asks Styx over the comms, to bring the herse, and to pick him up while the Bori and his girlfriend bring the motorcycle back to the safehouse.
Everyone arrives back to the safehouse and completes their various tasks before heading to bed for the night.
The following morning, we receive a knock at the door. Raptor answers it, with a his gun hidden, he sees Whitenoise on the other side of the door. He is offering his help to the team, as there were issues with him staying in Seattle.
Vault Securities:
- When the vault door opens, people will definitely know via a hardwire
- Both keycards will need to be Activated when we’re near them and commlink’d to our team at the Vault
- Security Building will likely be airgapped and probably wifi-inhibiting paint
We need to get into an SK Vault, which needs two keys to enter, one held by the site Director and the other by the a higher up Director that is visiting town the following day. He’ll be heavily guarded and in a three car motorcade and will not be anywhere near the vault.
Hawkeye continues to prep their bombs; Whitenoise decides to look in SK’s system; Bob Ross has been doing various searches and discovers that the HRT in the Templhof, is the elite of the elite. Styx and Bori decide to investigate around the Templehof for the wards. We continue to plan what we want to do to get the keys and how we’re going to get to the vault.
During their driveby, Bori and Styx notice that there aren’t very many wards between the walls and gates, but there are watcher spirits and a guard that is a mage.
Bob Ross continues to look into information and finds that two HRT teams have been moved and a special ops team has been moved in. Whitenoise breaks into the system and gets some credentials for Chester. Chester decides to stay at a hotel nearby and schmooze with people nearby. Hawkeye researches the beer that they’ll be delivering.
As night falls, Nightshade is not feeling well, and she asks Styx for help, but he is unable to provide help, so she asks Hawkeye, whom gives her some pain meds.
Bori tries to placate his girlfriend, but she has gone from shocked, to somewhat grumpy about the whole situation.
We have a good nights sleep and early next morning we start our prep work to break into the vault.
The body and beer is loaded into the van. Hawkeye is driving the van, Bob Ross in the front passenger seat, with Styx, Whitenoise, and the drones in the back. Nightshade, Bori, and Raptor hop onto their various motorbikes and make their way to intercept the motorcade.
At the Templhof, Chester explores the area and attempts to get access into the various areas with his access card. He convinces the chef to make the favourite food of the Templehof director to entice him downstairs to get access to the key card.
Hawkeye gets to the gate, the guard talks to them briefly, glances at the back, but waves them through. Meanwhile, Bori, Nightshade, and Raptor hunker down where they are planning to ambush the motorcade.
Hawkeye rolls up to the building, they notice another scanner, so Styx decides to clamber out of the vehicle and take up a spot at the local coffee shop. Whitenoise looks for vehicles that we can take and finds a few potential targets. Hawkeye moves the van to a less conspicuous spot.
11am hits, we see the nodes for the motorcade coming towards Nightshade, Bori, and Raptor. They get ready. Styx heads to washroom and summons a force six spirit. Whitenoise startles as the corpse rises to life. Styx tells him to go there and wreak havoc. The dead ork waves his gun around and starts scaring people whom are pointing at him and the vehicle. Hawkeye decides to run away in fake panic, followed by Whitenoise and Bob Ross.
The motorcade passes the motorcade crew and we begin to tail them and hear the explosions go off in the distance.
Chester is chatting a local engineer up and gets them to tell him where the vault is with the use of a magic spell. The vault is on the fifth floor. He relays this to vault crew. The vault crew enters the building and tries to gain access to the building, but seems to flounder in their explanation. The person they are talking to is very suspicious, which alerts a guard and they start to walk over. Hawkeye breaks into the system, they are in, but they are flagged. Hawkeye decides to loop the footage of the cameras on this floor.
Bob Ross’ backback opens up and five drones fly out and attack and kill the guard and incapaticitates the receptionist.
The motorcade crew are tailing the convy, to the ambush point.
Styx hears the tell-tale signs of a VTOL machine heading towards the spirit.
Raptor detonates his bomb, it blasts the vehicle into the front SUV, shooting it across the intersection on its side, causing the other two vehicles in the convoy to stop. Whitenoise hacks a vehicle at Raptors request, to slam into the rear SUV, which succeeds in hitting it.
Raptor and Nightshade run up to the vehicle to pry open the drivers door of the limo. Bori tries to figure out where the key is, but fails. As we are running up, we see the SUV is wedged between the wall of a building and the hacked vehicle, but it’ll take a moment to break free. Bori prepares a lightning spell and launches it at the SUV. He fries the vehicle and probably the occupants as well. Smoke plumes out of the vehicle and the spinning wheels stop.
Nightshade and Raptor reach the limo, as two guards get out of the fried SUV. Nightshade whips her bow out and blasts the one guard away. Raptor fires a full, narrow burst at the other guard, but he manages to duck around the vehicle.
Styx’s spirit is being shot at by sidearms, which do nothing to it. Five figures hit the ground from the air vehicle, to which the spirit throws some grenades at the guards, but their armour takes the blast. They open fire on the spirit, but he is unphased. The spirit runs in and swings his mace at the first guard, striking him, the blade enters, pulls out, with a bit of blood leaking out. The rest of the guards begins to pump lead into the spirit, which stands there and takes the full blast. Styx’s tells the spirit to grab the a guard and hit the button. It easily grabs the guards it is in close combat with.
Styx feels his coffee cup rattle, as he sees a bloom of smoke in the distance.
The dobermans have entered the lobby, as the vault crew feels the building shake from the blast. Whitenoise commandeers the elevator and takes the crew to the fifth floor. It opens out to a newly renovated floor.
The remaining guard from the SUV staggers out from cover, to be blasted away from Nightshade’s bow. Raptor heads to the limo. Bori picks out that the key is in the very back of the vehicle.
Chester talks to the Templehof Director and figures out where his key is.
As Raptor grabs the limo’s handle, the door launches open and a well dressed Troll launches out, snatches Raptor and tries to crush him, while using him as a meat shield. He is unable to escape the Troll’s gasp.
Styx: If we assume racism is right, then the Troll is a guard
Nightshade launches an arrow, missing the troll and narrowly missing Raptor. Bori sees the arrow stuck and uses a spell to launch it at the Troll, striking the Troll in a vulnerable spot. Raptor tries to escape again, but fails and is slightly crushed from the Troll. The troll had staggered from the arrow that Bori struck him with, giving Nightshade an opportunity to hit him with another arrow, striking the otherside of him, causing him to fall over, letting go of Raptor. Raptor gets up and threatens the Director to hit the key.
The vault crew gets off the elevator and finds the vault with no problem.
Chester attempts to nerve pinch the Templehor Director, but fails and is unable to pass off that we was just stretching. He all outs nerve pinches the Director, succeeding in getting him to collapse and then hits the button on the key.
The vault door’s locks click. Whitenoise sees a message that there are people on their way. The vault door slides open, revealing the various odds and ends of glorious objects. A glass case on the other side of the room, is in a two by two by two foot glass case wrapped in leather.
Bob Ross activates his lazer glass cutter on his arm and opens the case and grabs the small, but heavy item. While the crew starts stuffing things away, Whitenoise sees an admin pop onto the network, which knows that he is an unauthorized user. He connects via VR and decides to attack the SK Admin. The SK Admin launches an attack back, but he ignores him. Whitenoise decides to jack out, making himself very uncomfortable, but doesn’t suffer jacking sickness.
Styx gets the vehicle to drive itself to the building.
The vault crew hears the elevator dings, they hear heavy boots hit the ground, possibly two distinct sets of feet. Bob Ross gets his drones to lead the way, following close behind them. He gets drone with his assault cannon to shoot the larger guard, while the machine gun shoots at the other one. The assault cannon whirs to life and launches a round at the guard, getting knocked clear off of his feet, with a gaping hole in his armour and he gingerly staggers back up to his feet. The second drone fires at its target, with the target getting knocked off of his feet, full of holes and unmoving.
Whitenoise and Hawkeye look at their slumped over body of Bob Ross, knowing that he is jacked into his drones.
Styx hauls ass into the building, to take the elevator up with Chester.
The remaining guard staggers to his feet, making a full burst into the assault cannon drone. The drone takes a lot of hits, many holes being punched into the armour of the drone and feeding the hits back to Bob Ross, but he is able to shake off the feeling. Bob Ross then has his assault cannon drone fire a second blast, killing the remaining guards.
The elevator dings, revealing Chester and Styx. They grab a bag of loot and head to the top floor. They find the roof access relatively quickly. Whitenoise hacks into the VITOL and grants Hawkeye access as a pilot. Everyone piles into the VITOL, with Hawkeye noticing another VITOL on its way. They get everyone on board and tries to out manoeuvre the other VITOL, but they keep pace. Hawkeye ducks under and around skyscrapers, eventually causing the other machine to hit a crane.
Hawkeye manoeuvres around, making sure to keep people off of their trail before returning to our safehouse.
Once everyone is back at the safehouse, we go over the loot. There are quite a few of magical artifacts, some that could be of use to the party, others that could be of use to us. Some rare bullets, magical plants, unknown fluids, and various other items.
