The stage is set:

• The party: in a burning ring of fire, exhausted, quite out of spell slots
• The patron: Strahd is the Ancient, Strahd is the Land
• The prize: a quite defeated Rudolpho Van Richten
• The sound: a delighted Lord Strahd, clapping astride his flying, flaming horse: Busephelous
• The predicament: Strahd’s been chasing down Van Richten for quite some time, but so have we, for opposing purposes
• The complication: the fine vampire can be found by many to be quite irresistible, despite circumstances

The first idea was to convince Strahd to, ahem, let us finish him off for him

• Fen walks over to Van Richten and casts Death Ward and removed the invisibility spell
  • He attempts to deceive Strahd, he is sitting there and smiling
  • Sarandiel walks over and performs Van Richten’s last rite and slays him
  • Strahd walks over and mentions his heart is still beating
  • Bran walks over and says he’ll finish him off and takes his sword out, both hands on the hilt, shoving it through Van Richten’s heart
    • He says the job’s done
  • Fen says some words and walks away, to find the revivify scroll [9:30 PM] Elle: - Sarandiel grabs Fen and the corpse and Dimension Doors us away to safety
  • Fen looks at Sarandiel and asks, now what
    • We heal him and explain what’s going on and ask him if he has a hideout near by
    • We catch up Van Richten’s on our going ons and he realizes Fen is wearing his armour and locks it up on him
    • He gets rid of our charms
    • He liked the information about the reading and thought we were working for Strahd, but we explain we’re not
    • He mentions that Strahd has been following us because we have items that he can track
      • We get rid of the wolf pins, the suit of armour, cursed cloak, the cursed fiddle, mace of terror, cursed onyx ring, maid outfits, a crystal ball that allows us to see Strahd’s feast, and anything else we think can be used to track us
• The rest of the party made a deal with Strahd to come and find us and bring back the corpse of Van Richten and a party member sacrifice, which means most likely Sarandiel instead of Fen, as that’s Bran’s brother
  • Sarandiel and Fen explain to the rest of the party about doffing gear that was gifted, or a deal that was too good to be true
  • We get rid of non-useful items and put others in the bag of holding
  • We make our way to the Amber Temple
